Self-advocacy starts with knowing that your voice matters.

Sometimes advocacy means speaking up.

Sometimes it means asking questions.

Sometimes it means saying no.

Sometimes it means asking for help.

Sometimes it means using an AAC device, sign language, writing, gestures, a communication partner, or another way to make yourself understood.

And sometimes advocacy means standing beside someone until they are able to stand for themselves.
